Updated: Jul 30, 2019
Traveling with little ones is daunting to say the least. Summer is upon us and you would love nothing more than to go on that exotic vacation you've been dreaming of. But plane travel with children? That sounds more like a nightmare. We've got you covered with all the need-to-knows about traveling long distances with the kiddies.
First things first, make sure you take them to the pediatrician so they are properly vaccinated and protected from foreign diseases. Safety and health is first and foremost. It's always better to be safe than sorry. On that topic, be sure to pack some of the basic medicines like Benadryl, children's aspirin, and tums.
Second, you should have more snacks than you think reasonable. When boredom strikes, so does hunger. You will likely hear two phrases more than anything: "I'm bored" and "I'm hungry." Here's a list of our favorites:
Last but certainly not least, you will need hours worth of entertainment. I remember when I was about 12 years old my mother took me and my 10 year old sister to Hawaii. That's 12 hours of travel time from Miami. But luckily, my mom was prepared. She made us entertainment folders full of word searches, short reads, coloring pages, and language worksheets all about Hawaii and the culture. This is a fantastic idea for when you are traveling with children. Surely you'll want to download several hours of their favorite show, but try to throw in some educational fun. I will never forget how thoughtful it was of my mom to do that for us and I loved it. It's so easy and you can do it too!
Now that you have a break down of some of the good stuff to know, you can get back to Sky Scanner and book that flight without the fear of traveling with your tots! You've got this.
