Smart Summertime Snacks!
Updated: Jun 13, 2019

With the kids being home all day or heading into summer camp, you are surely finding yourself needing to heavily stock up on snacks. If bags of chips, candy bars, and sugary juice pouches fill your pantry right now, you need to read this post!
Kids' bodies are incredibly susceptible to the food that is pumped into them. If they're being fed junk, it actually does affect them physically(for some reason, contrary to popular belief). That being said, Doritos and Capri Sun really shouldn't be on your shopping list this summer. Instead, try out these healthy snacks that are also considered excellent brain foods!
Frozen blueberries
Fruit popsicles
Dried fruit
Avocado toast
Clementines
Bananas
Greek yogurt
Apples and nut butter
Roasted pumpkin seeds
Sunflower seeds
Trail mix
Kale chips
Sweet potato fries
Chopped carrots
Cherry tomatoes
Turkey jerky
Coconut chips
Dark chocolate
You get the idea! There are lots of easy, healthy swaps for the typical fast snack food. There are also tons of recipes online! If your kids aren't particularly fond of these ingredients, try slowly integrating them into their diet. Throw some kale chips next to their sandwich for lunch and see what happens! Slice up a banana atop their morning cereal. Add turkey jerky in their lunchbox as a midday snack. You can also get creative with shapes to intrigue them a bit more. Simply give those cookie cutters some more use!
